ABOUT US

Pete and Molly Skinner are life-long Saint Paul residents and have owned Skinner’s since July of 2000. Pete has cooked at perhaps twenty different bars and restaurants in Saint Paul and knows his way around the grill. In fact, Pete met Molly while they were both working at the former Tower Tap on Snelling. Pete and Molly had been looking to open their own place for many years when the opportunity to open Skinner’s Pub came along. They continue to work to improve the place and make sure everyone has a great time when they are here.

ABOUT THE BUILDING

This location has been the home to bars and restaurants for many years; previously operating as Novak’s, Sonny’s, and Paul’s Place. It is truly a neighborhood institution. For much of the early part of the twentieth century, the dining room was the home of the Vogelgesang Grocery Store.

Skinner’s Pub in the Community

As business owners and lifelong residents of Saint Paul, Pete and Molly Skinner have worked tirelessly not only to provide fabulous food and service, but also to build Skinner’s Pub into an exemplary partner with our local community, working with numerous organizations to make Saint Paul and our metro area a better place for all.

For our families, Pete and Molly have stepped up to the plate for a wide range of organizations in the neighborhood – youth sports, children’s services, our local public and private schools, and many more. From direct support, to assistance with food, to hosting events at Skinner’s Pub, Pete and Molly believe in our community and they have lived this philosophy each and every day with their family’s support and commitment to our area.

Serving Our Troops

For our soldiers and their families, Pete and Molly are among the founding members of the nationally recognized Serving Our Troops program, working since 2004 with business and citizens across Minnesota to serve up more than 75,000 steaks for Minnesota National Guard soldiers and families all over the world. Pete has directly served it up for the troops – grilled to order – in Kosovo, Kuwait, Iraq, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Wisconsin, and right here in Saint Paul. They have received multiple awards, including an Emmy and the National Guard Civilian Service Award – the first-ever national award for civilian service to the National Guard.
